I hate to write artist statement, but sometimes I have to do it. Over the years, I have developed my way of dealing with such a not so friendly task by writing various different notes and even personal letter replacing artist statement. Notes on My Artwork is something like that. Portland Journal noted my very first permanent public art experience of dealing with, or say, inspired by unexpected trouble, which has been part of my process since. Mirror Image was a book project I embarked many years ago, but never have time to finish, may be later in my life? The idea of the book is juxtaposition of two somehow related stories from complete different time of my life, one from China and one from US. My other short writings, no matter prose or poem, they often end up in my paintings or drawings.
